Thanks to Ed Chauza for sending this picture of the "OLD STYLE" geared alternator coupling.

Note that the washer between the nut and gear is on BACKWARDS.  The copper side should face the gear.

If this were the NEW STYLE hub with the elastometric coupling a band of bright orange silicon rubber would be

visible.
